Do I Have Bad Air Quality?

Do I Have Bad Air Quality?

To be quite frank, maintaining your indoor air quality is one of the most important responsibilities to have when it comes to owning a house. That is because Americans, on average, spend about 90 percent of their time indoors, where pollutants are two to five times higher than outdoor concentrations, according to the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

But, how do you know when your indoor air quality is bad? Our team at, Elite Air, Inc. put together some reasons that you may not be able to ignore.

Signs You Have Bad Indoor Air Quality

Poor Health Symptoms

Headaches, coughs, and dizziness — oh, my! These are all symptoms that can be caused by poor indoor air quality. In fact, when your allergy symptoms (i.e. runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing…) are at their peak, pay close attention to when they begin and where they seem to subside. Are all of these symptoms starting soon after you enter your home? If so, there can be an air quality problem — which can be caused by cleaning products, pet dander, and dust mites.

Excessive Dust

When dust starts to accumulate around vents or a buildup on surfaces begins, this is a telltale sign of poor indoor air quality. Also, an abundance of dust leads to dust mites — which cause your allergies to flare up (as mentioned earlier). However, if there’s no reason for the accumulation of dust (i.e., like construction being done on your house), then it’s time to think about your air quality.

Uneven Temperatures

If the temperature is constantly changing from room to room, there may be an underlying problem there. This could be due to your HVAC system not keeping temperatures and humidity levels regulated. As a result, your indoor air quality can suffer. If your humidity levels are too high, you can be susceptible to mold and mildew growth, but if your humidity levels are too low, then you can become victim to dryness.

Does Your Home Have an Indoor Air Quality Problem?

Now that you are aware of the symptoms pointing toward bad indoor air quality, it’s time to take measures into your own hands. While dehumidifiers/humidifiers can fix humidity issues, installing a purification system can be the perfect solution across the board.

Elite Air, Inc. can add The PureAir™ Purification System in your home; call us at (609) 527-3354 to schedule your appointment!
